Below is the Madison Overture Centers website page on the Spencers and their Master Class.

I think this course is reasonably priced!

This would be a great opportunity to get a close hand look at what it takes to perform a traveling illusion show.

July Newsletter

July 5th, 2008

Our June meeting was well attended and included some great performances. Also, I must apologize since not everyone received their June newsletter, at least the mailed version. I had mistakenly used a book of stamps which I had purchased in March, on some of the newsletters, forgetting that the postage had increased. Well, all of those newsletters were returned to me the following week. Again, sorry.

I was reading some past ring reports and found one dated June of 1998 in which was reported that Alvina Bergor, who was Ben Bergor’s wife, had passed away at the age of 98. Ben Bergor, as you know, or should know, was the founder of Ring 31. Alvina attended many of our ring meetings after Ben passed away, through most of the 80’s. Both Ben and Alvina led a long and interesting life in magic and their families, have on occasion, maintained contact with the ring over the years.

Also, regarding the ring’s history, there was once a display of Ben Bergor’s life in magic on display at the Wisconsin Historical Society. My hope is that this display will be shown once again and possibly to have some recognition of our ring be part of a display at the historical society. I’m sharing this information in the newsletter mostly for the benefit of our newer members. I will also try to include more information and stories in future newsletters, not only regarding Ben but also past members of the ring. Also, as I have previously mentioned, I will be presenting more information in a display at an upcoming meeting. Any longstanding members of the ring are certainly welcome to also share their stories and information about the ring and are welcome to do so whenever we meet or to have included in the newsletter.

* Also, just a quick note: A lecture has been booked for our October meeting. Details will be included in next month’s newsletter and in future emails.

Hope to see you in July, and don’t forget to bring in your membership information form if you haven’t already done so.
